    Uniform identification period picture

    Found this on the web...
Described as Lieutenant in Wehrmacht Gebirgstruppen...

Appears to be an unpleated M42 tropical open neck tunic or perhaps a privately tailored one that resembles an issue one?
    Thoughts?

Also of interest the total lack of a breast eagle...
Maybe he was captured and his tunic de-Nazified?
but still able to keep all of his medals? Plausible?

I believe that this tunic is a 2nd pattern tropical tunic with officer insignia applied. I assume this is a POW photograph of a soldier out of the Italian front?

I can't see the chest darts if they are there for a tropical tunic.

Yeah that is what I meant to write ...2nd model tropical...I just accidently called it M42 because of the curved pocket flaps and no pleats.
Not the right term of course...continental uniform term My bad! (but I think those came out in 1942 so M42 tropical?)

Yeah looks like an officer badged standard (enlisted) uniform after all! Those are supposed to have chest darts!... one of mine.

Probably custom made ones for the most part lacked darts...like this fantastic general's private purchase uniform in similar cut,
but with straight pocket flaps... Custom uniforms of course could deviate from the norm.
For some reason I thought the period image uniform was possibly also custom tailored. The darts are not visible , but its the lighting...
