    Reality check no 1

    Hi All,

I have just bought this lone board, medical, with wool vorstoss, probably early war, with the numbers "606" in blue.

So, are these for real..?..or made up.?..

To me, they look good, and could be for either san abtlg 606 (which was an armee-sanitätsabteilung) or from Lazarett-zug 606.

I have earlier posted these: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=757279

    Thanks for comments and critique.

    Hans Kristian

It looks correct to me. I have a tunic with the same type metal numbers tinted or painted blue. When the numbers were added is open to debate but I find this style of number perfectly acceptable.

By regulation, metal numbers should not have been used by enlisted ranks. But in the reality of war, regulations were not always followed. Board looks original to me.

I agree with Gary and Scott; I have several examples like yours.
I have also seen period photos of them in wear.
a less than common variation, but original.

I agree with the others and also that this was done. I have seen several different colors and also late in the war unpainted metal numbers.

Thanks for the comments, I was quite sure it was original, but according to regulations, the numbers should have been sewn and not metal. But probably much easier if transferred, and faster ofcourse.
