Why female?

I thought because of the buttons, but I see now they are on the ''wrong'' side to be a female jacket.

Is it even buttoned up in your image? So not on the male side...? (show it un-buttoned or button holes close up)
Just some kind of old civilian use Trachten or forst/wald jacke, perhaps made post war of left over feldgrau wool...(if its even that)
Nothing military here IMO...
