I would not buy anything from a person who told me that. Is he older like in his 70s? As I mentioned, 40 years ago this was acceptable to do for most people. Most younger collectors understand but of course to make money many people will do anything.

No the new owner is fairly young, less than 30 perhaps. I think he said the previous owner added it. Either way he knew it was wrong ,but insisted it was OK to do so and OK for him to leave it on there. Typically when questioned about it, he got very defensive and defended doing it.
