    Hello,

It was not at all uncommon that not all had insignia on the tunics, haste, not available or some other reason.
I am sure many can come up with pics, but here is one:

I think there is a thread which talks about these uniforms void of insignia. If you look at the tunic and pants pictured in the first post, they are very dark, brown or black? I think these were some sort of prewar reserve or auxiliary security units. Strange branch of the Army? Steve

I'm pretty sure that's Bergen Germany and not Bergen Norway, Kothe is a German name and there are several people with that name living there today.

I have seen photo albums for some of the RAD soldiers that were assimilated into the Army where there are group photos of them wearing Army hats with insignia and tunics but with no insignia also. There are several scenarios where this could have happened. Interesting picture.

It was and is a large military area, perhaps best known for the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp.

I have studio pictures of what are likely foreign auxiliaries wearing army or police tunics devoid of insignia. Same with their headgear. It was a common practice as they transitioned to whatever insignia the contributing nation were assigned to wear.

                    Neat photo, thanks for posting.
