    Gray tresse with black lline edging is found on NCO shoulder straps
    used on the HBT fatigue tunic. (Der spiess cuff rings as well, and on
    Enlisted chevrons for that tunic.

        Yes, it was used throughout the War. I have seen it also used on NCO shoulder boards for the Waffen SS.

          This tress was originally intended for the oatmeal colored drill uniform where the black stripes outlining the NCO tress allowed it to be distinguishable against the neutral backing of these uniforms. It continued to be worn with the feldgrau HBT until the end of the war.
