Here is the marking. The lining material is gone.

I dont think the lining have been removed...looks to be an very early tunic.

One of the pocket flaps seems replaced.

what was the description when you bought the tunic?

looks like a privatly made/altered tunic.

Shovel is not a true german one, shovel carrying case is a nice one.

I bought this about fifteen years ago from a dealer who only sold WW1 items. He had contacts who cleared houses in Germany who he got it from. He wanted to move it on as he had no interest and I got it very reasonably.

The tunic was found in a trunk with some other bits that also had red staining (this is visible on the left breast area). I bought it as seen. There were some photos in the pocket with it.

No other description.

Also, the regimental numbers were in the lower pocket not on the shoulder straps.
