              I knew a guy about 25 years ago in Germany that used to look for insignia for me and would bring them to a very small (but very good) militaria show in rural western Germany. One year he brought about 25 bullion eagles that all had the swastikas cut off (not nicely done like the pics here). There were some incredible bullion eagles there (army and luft generals, luft HG, army panzer, army judicial, luft cap eagles on white, etc.) but I just had to shake my head and move on that day... Didn't buy a single one.

                I rather like them.

                As Ron points out "The war was over". The national party deemed criminal. So, what better way to 'keep' your military uniform for posterity than to remove (simply) the symbol of the party yet retain the timeless national eagle motif that goes back, in various forms, to the foundation of your country?

                As said, I like them.
