T cap insignia

Hello,
Picked this up at a gun shop so no provenance. I believe it to be original, but cloth is not my strongpoint so wanted to get some opinions. Also, assume this would be appropriate to place on a mountain cap, is that correct?

Thanks Fred, further proof that I need to study cloth more and carry a mini black light as well, because I think it is synthetic material now that I look at it. At least I bought it with a couple of other items (not cloth) and at a good price.

Maybe one of these days I'll finally dig out my box of insignia and get things posted on the WAF for review!

These were also used on M42 caps, not exclusive to Bergmützen.
This one is indeed bad...look at the off-kilter Swastika to name one obvious red flag...

Yeah, I even noticed that when I bought it but it was a good deal on the other items so I ignored what my gut told me and went for it anyway. Then I spent the next few weeks convincing myself that it still looked good because with that type of wear it just couldn't be otherwise. Amazing that after almost 25 years of collecting I still occasionally take leave of my senses, but at least I've learned to only do it when the costs are low or zero!
