is this a General's breast eagle?

    Hello all,

Gold bullion on dark green wool, this is for a General rather than Coastal Artillery, correct?

    Hello,

    It looks KM/CA to me.

Could be for either. Most collectors, however, won't acknowledge that it's for a Heer general unless it's of the highest quality and construction. Otherwise, you're likely to see KM/CA pricing for it if you ever sell.

Quality is pretty "standard" so i would say KM KA more than WH General .
        But who knows !

Nice bird William but I tend to agree with the others.

The problem with these is, that like metal summer uniform birds, they were private purchase so the owner bought whatever he liked (or whatever his tailor decided to use when he put the uniform together) so there is no real way of knowing. I'm much more familiar with metal summer birds and for those, its not unusual for a dealer to dub a particularly nice early fire guilded tombac specimen as a "general's summer uniform eagle" to boost the price but to me they are all just nicely designed/executed uniform eagles

            Regards

            JC

              Generals Eagle?

This appears to be a regular KM eagle and not a Costal Artillery or General's eagle. The backing is dark blue. The picture was taken in daylight on a white piece of paper and yes this is the same eagle in post #1. It just goes to show how lighting comes into play. Still a nice eagle.

I would always assume its a KM/CA eagle unless its got some rock solid provenance to make it a Heer General eagle. Matt

I've never seen a backing on a breast eagle like this but the quality looks very good from the front. Thoughts on this one?

Id call it Kriegsmarine, you see some crazy birds from those guys. But I like it and would be glad to have it in my collection. Matt

I think I'm colorblind. These wool backings are so hard to tell. Really a stunner either way though.

Hi, these are sometimes hard to tell what colour they are, I use a magnify glass, and this shows you the correct colour.
This Adler here on show it's not A Heer generals.

But.... As I have said before French tailors sometimes used KM ADLERS for generals, Von Choltiz,s had a blue wool backing.
