Waffenfarbe question Osttruppen

Would an Osttruppen soldier (like ROA) with red (unit) shoulderstrap piping still wear a branch piping on his visor relating to his skills (like communications yellow?)

I am asking because at one of the D-Day 70th anniversary exhibits last June, this surrendering ROA soldier impression was on display...an unusual combination...or not?

IMO he should have a red piped cap ...or some other cap like a M43 cap as POA russian natives NCO were not wearing so easily Schirmmütze !
Cossaks it will be more the case but nationality piped .

I agree for a surrendering Osttgruppen soldat (in the field) surrendering with a schirmmutze on is much less likely than a true field cap like M42, M43 or Kubanka or something along those lines...

Besides German officers serving in such units also higher ranking NCO's (like Der Spiess) would keep their schirmmutzen as a sign of authority...(see image Georgian Legion Spiess)...
Most indigenous troops would not...

So the museum display does not portray the norm...but I was just curious about the color combination...

Here a period color image of a low ranking soldier in 1945, after the hostilities ended (in Czech territory) wearing a schirmmutze in the field...
with non matching farbes...White infantry straps and brown or orange on the visor...
He is not an Ost-truppen member... nor is this a studio portrait where a borrowed cap was being worn...
