Feldgendarmerie uniform question

Did Feldgendarmerie personnel have more leeway (freedom) when it comes to
not adhering to uniform regulations?
Perhaps to show status / Authority?
(like NCO's wearing officer quallity uniforms, as lower ranking SD personnel also did)

Example:
Here is a Feldgendarmerie officer wearing what appears to be a regular tunic,
so not a piped "Geschoente" Dienstrock or "waffentrock", yet his collar tabs are of the fancy variety...
Possibly to show his kinship with Polizei (being a former cop)

Nice photo. I wonder if it's in fact a police jacket modelled in the fashion of the army "old-style" tunic. A photo of one appears towards the rear of the Bender police volume 1. From memory, it doesn't have French cuffs. Such a garment would be perfect for service wear and keep a connection with his former profession.

Alternatively, it's simply a police waffenrock with the collar, and probably the cuffs, replaced for field wear. He's chosen to retain the original police tabs.

Whatever the scenario, I'd like to own it !

They could also be on a light field grey like RH tabs. I have seen that before and they try to match the collar color without the badge cloth. Notice like early tabs, they also are more square shaped and do not have the angle of the orange dress tabs.

yeah Mike who knows what's going on here...These former police men did sometimes modify their Police uniforms for armed forces use after transfer...
Even though they were allotted an allowance, they could have held on to their old kit (in modified form) for sentimental reasons, Police kinship, cost savings...
Same happened with Gendarmerie orange farbe schirmmutzen...the brown band was simply covered with bottle green material and Polizei metal insignia swapped out for Heer
and presto you have a Heeres Feldgendarmerie cap! (which would otherwise could have cost them 17 Reichsmark to purchase...converting is cheaper)

Yeah Johnny that is a good possbility and makes sense since the collar is not bottle green. A good match with lighter green collar tabs...
Had these not been Feldgendarmerie officers your explanation would have been a certainty...
Now it could probably be either one...orange or lighter green backed...
Did not think about RW possibility.
