Tropical Panzer Grenadier shoulder boardfor review

Hi all, recently picked up this worn Tropical Panzer Grenadier shoulder board. Its a heavy wool type, would this be worn on a shirt or greatcoat? Any help is much appreciated.

This is a strap for the wool overcoat but might be used on a shirt or tunic as needed due to supply shortages.

Many thanks for the reply, are these items thin on the market as it took me some time to find an example with evidence of wear, this was actually brought back by a veteran who served in Italy. I am no expert on these items so any help is much appreciated.

Indeed these were made and worn for the greatcoat as they are longer than those made for the tunic/shirt.
