Need help with a collar tab

    Hello
German insignia is not my thing so I'm hoping someone can id this one for me. It's one of several pieces of insignia I got from a former American AAC POW.
    Thank you in advance.

        wild guess...

        "Voksturm" rank collar tab?

Were SA tabs made in feldgrau?

        Dunno about the originality though.

        Cheers

Thanks Jan. Do you think it might not be original? Here is a picture of the back.

              Hi Eric

I meant that I couldn't judge if the tab is genuine or not, as I'm not knowledgeable enough on these. Even if you got it from a vet, you can't be too sure these days.

Ah, so it's a blue tab?

It 'looks' good ( in terms of honest wear), but that's all I can say...let's see what the experts think.

ps : I also wonder what that (brown?) tab is?

              Cheers

                Cloth

                Hi Eric,
The blue tab is a SA rank tab for the SA District of Hochland. The brown one I beleive is a low rank tab of the private forestry service. Then you have some customs officials and Wehrmacht artillery. They all look good from what I can see. Regards,Mitch

Thanks Mitch! After your post I did a search for SA in Hochland and came across a hat with the same color. Any other information about any of them would be appreciated.

I know what you mean about veterans Jan and stories Jan. I was given a 1945 dated Japanese Type 14 Nambu that the vet said he picked up in New Guinea, which would have been impossible. I really wish I knew the story behind these though. When they were given to me he didn't talk about how he got them. Early this year his story was in the newspaper, how he was shot down very late in the war and ended up in the tide of pows, refugees, German soldiers, etc. moving west. The sad part is he died a couple of weeks after the article.

Anyway, thank you everyone for the information.

                    thanks!

                      Hi Blinky,
the S.A. changed its rank insignia several times during its existance and can be a bit of a nightmare when trying to identify insignia yuor patch i belive to be origonal for the rank of Sturmbannfuhrer, but the silver twisr cord piping is missing from the edge of the patch i could be wrong iam sure others may comfirm/repute my info JMHO
