    My new Pio Hauptmann tunic

    Hello guys!

A couple of weeks ago I received this tunic from Niemann.
I couldn't show it off before now because of moving and stuff.
I am really a medal collector, but ocasionaly I have to buy something BIG ( like a tunic).
Anyway here it is, hope you like it.

    Decorations and side view.
The loops are all original to the tunic and the Krim shield and EK2 ribbon too, but the medals are added.

I once sold an overcoat to a Haputmann from this Pionier Bataillon...came with some provenance (name, etc researched in the Bundesarchives). If I recall what I had, the unit was never more than battalion strength. It was of Austrian origin and was a Bau-Pionier unit. I 'think' I recall that it did fight/operate in the Crimea area.

Also, the Greenhill German Order of Battle publication shows it as a motorized unit under G.H.Q.

Anyhow...that's mostly off my memory and I could be incorrect on any or all. If I can get my Detlev provided CD with the Tessin volumes to work on my computer.

                Grüß Gott Mads,

What kind of material is the tunic made from? It seems to have an interesting sheen to it. I really like tailored made officer tunics and all the variety of material that is used.

                  Thanks for your comments guys.

Scott, I also searched a web site to find out if the Krim shield should be there and also remember seing that the bataillon operated there.

Bergfuhrerkiser, It is somekind of HBT summer lightweight tunic.

Scott - are you thinking of the one you sold me - that was 70 not 50, Mads - great tunic !!! like Scott said I have the overcoat & also a LT Pioneer tunic so great to see your example. If you need to I can provide the info Scott gave with the overcoat but I believe these are not the same unit ??

ooops! You are right Craig...it was not the 50th. Sorry Mads. However, the part about the G.H.Q. troops (motorized) is correct...juts not certain what kind of engineer unit it was.
