Red cording on IR 122 Feldwebel Schulterstück

    Hallo,

what means the red cording on this IR 122 Feldwebel "Schulterstück"!?

I found here the photo 63 but it doesn't explain the meaning to me...

Could it be that the Feldwebel was in the 13th (IG) company?

    Thanks

    Hannes

Sometimes units would do this to denote their "unit within a unit". For example, a Kompanie might select a color braid, chord, soutache, cloth band, etc to show they were the 1. Kompanie, or 5. Kompanie, etc., within I. Bataillon or II. Bataillon, etc.

In the case of the Großdeutschland Division, the Panzer Füsilier Regiment GD used a red chord such as the strap you show and the Panzer Grenadier Regiment GD used a white one.
