    slip on boards for waffenrock

    Hello
Im looking at an infantry waffenrock nco rank and It has slip on boards which seems a little strange to me is this a common thing that I havent noticed and if anyone knows when did this start

    Thanks you

It may have been modified for service wear. After the War started the parade tunics often were converted following regulations for use as daily tunics etc. Sometimes the piping and cuffs were left and shoulder strap loops were added. To see what is going on we would really need to see photographs.

They were not all fully converted. You see all kinds of odd modifications. Sometimes two pockets were added, sometimes four, sometimes none. I have seen pretty much every possible combination.

That probably was just a personal choice and it was used for walking out etc. At that rank he could do pretty much whatever he wanted aside from large parades or formal inspections lol.

Looking at the sloppy application of the (officer's) collar tabs and the non-dress tress on the collar and cuffs, I think this one may have been stripped and then restored by a collector. Just my $.02. Is it private-purchase or does it have any geprüft stamps inside?

I did not even notice that. It probably was restored. There also would not have been an 18th Company in a typical regiment.

Forgot to say that the seller thinks the breast eagle is doubtful

                        Poorly restored tunic?

Have seen a few of these tunics with the smaller tress fitted to them, it would be of interest to see what they have done under the slip on boards. Certainly not a nice example of a Waffenrock. Regards David.
