        To oblige the request of the owner.

        Yes this one is original, albeit with some 'insignia issues' IMHO.

          Thank you, Mr. Singer. Could you please elaborate on the insignia issues. If you need more photos I'll be happy to take some tomorrow. I took the current ones in full sunlight and see they are quite too bright for showing details.

            Sir,

            I believe your jacket to be a lesser common ‘transition’ example (my phraseology) when the factory no longer applied piping to the collar, while continuing to sew-in/down the shoulder straps. {reference page 149 (for jacket) & page 49, third row – last image (for marking) in vol. 1 of ‘Panzer Feldjacke’ by Scott Pritchett}

            I will start and stop by saying that IMHO the shoulder straps were not applied during the factory production of the jacket.

            As has been pointed out, the use of rayon piping is atypical for this period (although not unseen); yet this manufacturer did use ‘badge-cloth’ piping through 1940 & 1941 and even into 1942.

            With regards and Happy New year to ALL,
            B. N. Singer

              I would appreciate it if you would post a picture of the bias material (see Attachment) and the reverse side of the front lapel. Thank you.

                  Here's some better photos of the insignia. The eagle appears to be originally sewn and as far as I and my wife can tell, the collar tabs are originally sewn. We can't seen any lines where other insignia may have been sewn

                  Mr. Singer is correct in that the shoulder boards are not the ones originally done at the factory. I tried to show the double line of stitching where the original boards were but my paint function died on me so I only pointed out a single line of stitching. They are a double line and the original boards were oriented differently and a tad bit longer than the ones on there now. Not sure when or why it was done but my wife says it was done very well so most likely a professional job

                  I also took some pictures of the lapels. It turns out the crease in them is not done along the line of the twill tape as it should have been originally, so the lapels are smaller than they should be. Not sure when or why this was done, maybe the owner preferred it that way for a smarter appearance. Either way, should I leave it as is or try to reset the creases along the tape line?
                  Thank you,
                  Dale

                    More showing where the double lines of the original boards ran through the shoulder shaping material. Also, the photos of the lapels showing where the crease line should be.
