Hi,
This pair of LW Oberleutnant Collar Tabs arrived, alledgedly from the estate of a Stuka Pilot, and are somewhat different (at least for me) compared to "standard" LW collar tabs.
I'll attach 4 images - front and back images in comparison to "standard" LW tabs, and a couple of detailed scans of the piping. It's the MIDDLE SET that is the set up for discussion.
Things to note;
1) Difference in colour - a "lemon" yellow rather than the more standard orange/gold yellow.
2) Difference in size
3) Difference in material used for the piping (although the gulls and wreath are of "standard" coiled aluminium thread)
4) Different construction on the reverse.
The piping appears to be 3-strand multi-braided (aluminium) wire rather than the typical 3-strand "coiled" aluminium wire. There is no adverse reaction under UV light (only the standard dull yellow associated with the canvas on the reverse).
Has anybody seen or does anybody own a similarly constructed set? Any and all comments appreciated.
Regards
Mike K
