I bought these yesterday, the dealer thought that they were medic / veterinary, I was aware that Brian L Davis's "Geraman Army Iniforms & Insignia 1939 - 1945 shows them as army supply.
Having picked up a few LW etc shoulder boards & collar patches within the past few days (posted on this forum) I was advised to get hold of copies of B. L. Davis's "Uniforms & Insignia of The Luftwaffe" Vols 1 & 2, & managed to buy Vol 1 with this pair of shoulder boards - the dealer was using the book to price up collar patches & boards, but as it made his head spin was only too happy to flog it to me.
Trouble is, the shoulder board device features in that book as "LW Special Forces" which I've never heard of, & any detail about them is in Vol 2, which I have'nt found yet.
What were Lw Special Forces please?
The cauduceus & pips on these boards are in grey metal, there is absolutely no sign of them having had any kind of finish on them, other than that there is a gold colour or toning to the prongs on the pips, visible on the reverse of the boards.
