    Help with breast eagle please

    Hello,

I was thinking of jumping on a M 36 EM tunic which has the eagle on top in the following picture. Same day I have seen the identical eagle offered, shown beneath the first one. This one is sewn to a piece of fieldgrey fabric.

They do not look like original eagles I have or I have seen so far. So I tend to believe these are fakes, and therefore the whole tunic probably, too. I this assumption correct?

    thank You in advance

    Hi Johannes,
Here's a good one I have that was cut from a tunic for comparison. The pattern of the stiching on the neck of the ones you posted doesn't look like any of the ones I have.

          Tim and Johnny,

thank You for Your replies, but I do not get the point with the last bird. It looks ver convincing. Maybe the material of the bird is too fine and the weaving of the rayon base too coarse? But that is more a guess.

Hi to all but why are these Eagles repros ( first Two one and the last Bird) ? They look original for me where is the diference to an original one?

The only eagle posted that I would be comfortable with is the one posted by Tim.

                  Hi pip,

                  Several points to note.

Original bevo insignia is fairly flat. The first two posted and the one by John have fairly high relief. They look too puffy too me.
The first two posted show bad head shape and as Tim said the neck stitching isnt correct. There are variations of style in stitching in some areas on originals but the first two posted are wrong. The style of the chest feathers look wrong as well.
Johns is a good repro of an m36 but suffers from subtle mistakes. The neck stitching is similar to the first two posted and is wrong. The chest feathering is wrong as well.As i said before,it is too puffed out looking.

Its hard to explain all the faults but if you collect enough of these you learn what looks correct to the eye.

                  Tim,
Are you sure yours is an m36 breast eagle?
The subdued gray colour, lack of dark seperation between the feathers and wings and general look say to me this is later production m39 breast eagle.
Also the field gray backing is consistent with m39,s instead of the dark green im used to seeing with M36 eagles.
It just doesent look like an m36 to me.
