I agree the price range is $800 - $1000, probably at the higher end of that due to the nice condition and the naming.

IMO this tunic in the current market (at least for the US), for someone that really wants it, IMO is worth about 950-1100 US and based on what I have seen recently at on-line auctions waffenrocks similar to this one and in higher ranks and more rare branches are selling for less. Prices are going down on more common items.

Watch the eStand recently to see how waffenrocks have fared. You will note that prices have declined for them as have prices generally for common items. With the economy as it is, collectors have become more cautious in their spending. I know I have.
Unusual waffenrocks have done a lot better in holding their "value."
As has been said many times on this forum and elsewhere, the things we collect are worth what someone else is willing to pay for them.

Johnny, could you offer links to some of the online auctions you use? Id appreciate it very much.

I agree with you partially. It is true that in general the value of rocks have decreased, and as you said, the value of anything is determined by how much one is willing to pay for a good or service. Nevertheless, I believe Johnny's estimate is closer to the mark. To estimate the rock offered at the 800.00 usd range is a bit low in my humble opinion. i might be off the mark, but even low balling the aiguillette might be in the 100 to 125 range. even as low as rocks have gone i have not seen a named officer one for 700 regardless of branch. again, if you guys have some clue of where this is going on please share. id like to get a hold of yellow (commo / cavalry) and / or green waffenfarbe ones (grenadier, jager) with the rank of captain or above and several awards loops.

I think if you do a search on many dealer web sites you will see common Waffenrocks priced well above what Johnny has stated still sitting there after many months. Artillery is the most common branch and generates less collector interest compared to Panzer, infantry, Cav, etc. The rare or more desirable Waffenfarbe are higher, but still going for less before the economy tanked in 08/09 - even General's rocks have declined a bit from what I have seen. As has been stated, the thing this particular tunic has going for it is condition and the fact it is named. I'd say Tim is dead on valuation-wise for just the tunic, less the aiguillette. As a proud capitalist, I feel people can ask whatever they want for an item, but if they overprice it, they also need to be prepared to watch it sit inperpetuity.
