    44th Infantry Div

I just got this really nice group from the Klaus Butschek auction. It is one of those dream items that one is always looking out for, especially for me in view of my interest in Stalingrad and Monte Cassino. What makes it even better is that it is from the 44th Inf division,96 arty regiment, which were involved in both the battles. It also has an issue to officer converted jacket. There is a mystery about the cocade, but here is an interesting twist about the visor, but more about that later. If anyone knows where I can find a flatwire cap eagle, especially a grey backed one , please let me know. J

So you are the one who got it? , its a one looker group.

          Congrats

Its a perfect example of how an used untouched tunic should look imo.

            Hello Jacques,

            Super nice grouping.

Wasn't 44ID an Austrian Unit? Maybe that is the reason for the cocade.

Very sharp Fred, here is the honory unit colors of the 44th. It had a long tradition.

Nice one Jacques! Will you display this set on a torso?

Was the above info what you were referring to for the cap or is there more?
