    EM/NCO shoulder boards

    Hello,
Picked these up a few weeks ago from a gun shop that buys and sells old militaria collections. All appear original to me, but insignia is not my strong point so I wanted to get your opinions. here's what I think they all are:

    - NCO, 40th Jaeger regiment
    - EM, shuetzen or panzergrenadier
    - Panzer EM, NCO candidate
    - Infantry NCO with unit identification strip

    Thank you,
    Dale

Thanks Naxos, but I thought it being light green would be jaeger infantry? Not arguing, just trying to learn.

Naxos is indeed correct the unit is a Panzergrenadier attached to the 17. Panzer Divison. The Waffenfarbe is an "apple green" ( my poor description). Panzergrenadier Waffenfarbe will run in many shades. Jaeger/GJ is a darker green. Then, they would use what available and throw a big monkey wrench into everything!!!

Appreciate the lesson, always glad to learn something new. Now if I could just get my old brain to retain the info!

Sweet boards, judging by your other posts with shoulder boards looks like you walked into a nice score.

Great PzGrn board, I'd be happy to take it off your hands. I have a set of PzGrn Rgt 40 officer boards. Matt

Thanks guys, not sure if I'll sell or not as it's my only PzGrn board so far. This was all part of a large group I bought in Houston before undergoing surgery a few weeks ago. Now I'm laid up recovering, forbidden to work or drive, so I'm taking pictures and posting here to pass the time. Also plan to post a bunch of things in the next few weeks just to fill up my time.

Matt, morning sick call must be over if you're posting now. Better get your butt back to work! And feel free to invite yourself down my way for a visit, would be nice to dig through my uniform trunk.

                    Dale,

I'm out in the field for a couple of days playing army and doing some wuality medic training at a company level FTX. I may just have to come on down and check up on you and see how your doing.

Great lot of boards for sure and do keep me in mind if you decide to move it along. Matt

                          Pz Gren. Rgt. 40

Here is an enlisted man from the same unit and the strap and slide from the picture. Perhaps when time permits, I can post more pieces to show the "variety" that existed in the Panzergrenadier Waffenfarbe.

                            Kradschuetzen

Another possibility for strap #2 the badge cloth and green Waffenfarbe is Kradschuetzen.

                              Glen,

Love that Rgt 40 board of yours! I was going to say that the sark bottle green board is a early krad board. I have a nice selection of those types and really think they are some of the nicest ones made during the period. Matt
