It is not a standard German Feldbluse and I do not think it was worn as such although it resembles in first appearance a M42 style tunic (issue gabardine tunics are mostly in M43 or M44 pattern). The shoulder straps disqualify it as being German though, also the cuffs and breast pockets are non-standard. The buttons then again, are German.
Any sign of previous insignia ?

Is it just me or is there a very faint outline of what could be a Heer eagle over the right breast pocket (would be right if you were wearing it)? It appears to be rather faint when looking at the pic with it laid on its back with a slight angle. Perhaps my eyes just wanting to see something.. Matt

Too me it is a German inspired tunic (German buttons, German style) post 1943, so RSI period, made in Italian wool
(which the Germans also used of course post Sep '43 armistice) intended for Italian RSI troops.
Could even have been made in Germany for Italian troops, many trained in Germany...
The rounded chest pockets, shallow cuffs and epaulets scream Italian to me! but German inspired or German made for RSI.
So late war and with German grau-blau einheitzknopfen (late war generic color buttons as intended for all branches)
Great item.
I would post it in the Italian section for more input!
