Eagle check on early HBT M42

Eagle check on early HBT M42....
The uniform is a nice original M42HBT, no doubts there. Litzen are originally applied too (but with repro shoulder straps, easy to fix).

What about the breast eagle??? I don't like the application... nor the eagle...

      Hi Nick,

It should have 5 segments (4 is a bad sign on breast eagle).

I just looked at an m36,m39 and flatwire eagle and they have a similar rib pattern in that area.

Im not overly familiar with the design but there are some variation.

Nothing strikes me as bad(color is good as well)

Pity we cant see the back, that's usually where the clues lie.

I would say re-sewn eagle and collar tabs.IMO

Looks to me like an original M-44 trapazoid eagle that was cut down.

I see the litzen do appear to be hand stiched after all...
in stead of straight line machine stiched with hand-stitching at both ends... You are right Glenn!

Regarding the breat eagle, Perfect! I did not think about that scenario! A cut down original trap breast eagle!
OK I will leave it "as is"! Is is indeed a perfect match! (other than the shape!)
          Thanks guys!

So good eagle, but could the application still be original? Here's the inside... as requested!
Done with period field gray thread it seems...
and no signs of any other eagle ever being on it... (or signs covered up with heavy stitching?)
          Thoughts?

Collar tabs appear to be machine sewn with the same thread as the bird..The trap eagles were meant to be sewn as is,not cut down and applied in this manner.
