LOL! They do actually look like what I would expect DAK womens boots to look like if such a thing had existed. They could be the start of a great display manquinne of a fantasy DAK helfer.

Or put them on a mens DAK uniform and watch the expressions on peoples faces when they notice them.

To be fair - the listing says "looks a lot like" "you decide."

So while the sales pitch is rich with humour - they're not really trying to deceive.

I do like a good laugh though!

        boots

Think they are second pattern as the leather comes up to the bottom of the laces. And nice without the hobnailettes.

Total guess/conjecture, but they might be a commercial product, aimed at civilians. Prior to the end of World War One, the Germans had colonies in East Africa, and it would be logical that there must have been companies making 'tropical' clothes and accessories for that market. The ebay boots might actually be older than the Afrika Korps boots by a couple of decades. As has been commented, they look exactly the way you would expect a set of boots for an Afrika Korps helferin to look. Maybe that was a German style of tropical boot, and the Afrika Korps boots were simply a continuation of a German style of hot weather/tropical boots. It would need a shoe historian to confirm that, of course, but who knows. The ebay boots may not be anything to do with the Afrika Korps, but I'm sure someone who collects antique shoes would love them.

            All the best,

            Mark
