Nice Flak Unteroffizier Etienne! I quite like the style. Looks like a piece of hair mixed into the paint over top of the signature which is kind of interesting.

What is the approximate size of the piece?

wow that is really nice and you can tell that the soldier made sure his hair was tidy before the sitting.

Nice big size, do you intend to frame it?

                    Great Panzer portrait painting Etienne!
Those skulls look like "Braunschweig" skulls.

I found this while surfing the net, Interesting thing is the R missing from the riders badge ?????, which to my understanding means post war badge but all other badges still have the correct markings.
Maybe this painting was done to honour a family member.

                        Hi Adam,

Could you please post a close up from the tekst in the corner.I believe it says ''Selbstportrait'' which means selfportrait.

Got this one, but it is throwing me off. Looks like heer visor insngnia, LW style fliegerbluse or wrapper, black collartabs? Anyone have an idea what branch he may be?

                          Done in Charkow in '42.

Could it be an luftwaffe pioneer/contruction unit officer because of the colour black. But then we must see some V on it.

                            ps:saw it too

Etienne, that is what I was thinking as well. The color/cut of the uniform looks LW, but the cap has a heer style wreath which is why I posted here (maybe its a stylistic choice of the artist to paint it this way). Perhaps I should also include in the Luftwaffe forum. It would be easy if there were a breast eagle present, but yet again another wartime example of the artist excluding the eagle & swastika.

Interested to hear what others have to say as well.

Likely an NSKK Transport Regiment Luftwaffe officer. Note the Army/NSKK style wreath and brownish tint to the visor cap.
