This is example was posted on Chris Ailsby's collection blog...
It is more in line with literature referenced examples...and the George Petersen example is the same pattern...
(foreign volunteers book covering Russians, Osttruppen, Cossacks).

The period image (with Goebbels) appears to show a cruder handembroidered one...I think...
So is it real?

I had a ebay deal going on one like this, just alittle different. I cant find the photos. Anyway i didnt buy it in the end, to little details is known.

But even if this example is genuine there is not a snowballs chance in hell im going to pay so much money for ct like this.

юных.........is what it should be, interesting that the ы is stylised, perhaps how it was done back then.....my Russian is far from fluent, so maybe one of our Russian or fluent Russian speaking members could clear that up.....

- The spelling is fine, it the just the funky font that they used - it splits the letter in half. Unfortunately a bad cuff - someone clearly tried to copy the bewo type.

I know its spelt correctly I was just curious if the method or font of writing ы in that style was significant...as I have NEVER seen it before written like this...

I had a chance to buy the original one George had at the Max show about 9 years ago. He was asking 5K for it and I just couldn't pull the trigger at that time. But I did get a nice bunch of super rare sleeve shields from him so it wasn't a total loss.
