Can anyone tell me whether this jacket is fake. To me it looks very fake but i'm trying to learn
If it is a fake who would have this amount of money to spend without knowing anything about tunics

Hi Matt,

I noticed that one too, although I know zero about SS-clothing, this is definatly a reproduction, IMO not even close to the original.

There are to many people like this, with little or no knowlegde and to much money.

IMO, tunic itself looks original, the rest (insignia and everything else) have been added post war...it's a put together fake.

I must disagree with you Tony, although maybe better pictures are needed, take look at this close-up, a wierd collar to say at least for an M36...

IMO this is a totall repro, both tunic and insignia.

Did someone asked for more pictures?

Jan, I'll go with you on this one...I had a second look and I believe you right.
I was looking the little pic showing the lining which kinda look OK. But over all
I'll agree with you.

I'm with you on this one Matt. It looks exactly like a Lost Battalions/SM Wholesale repop. I don't much like the insignia either. As for your second question. More than you expect. Most people don't have the time or inclination to do proper research on these things and thats what the fakers rely on.

So the question is Who has the money but not the knowledge to bid on something like this? I cant believe someone would bid this amount on a repro like this without realising its a fake! The reason I feel its a fake is the fact it looks exactly like a repro I have, especially the knap, real tunics just dont retain the knap like that.
