Original Insignia But What Is The Jacket ?

This jacket came in a small lot acquired from a closet collector yesterday.

The seller admitted to sewing on the insignia but did not know origin of jacket.

Is this a Swiss or Swedish jacket ?

It has characteristics of a German jacket but there are details that don't ad up.

    Thank you for your help.

You can see where another thread line is present from a previous collar tab.

              Thanks guys.

That looks like it pretty much.

Does the button configuration difference have any bearing ?

They used whatever was available in 1946, recycled TR period tunics, sometimes removing the Brown facings (collar and cuffs),
which is what probably happened in the portrait image. The button count in that b/w photo is actualy higher: 8 buttons on tunic!!
Your tunic is in polizei colored wool and the rectangular collar tab ghosts also prove it's a (post war) fully lined Polizei uniform...
Post war they used a tunic that resembles a wehrmacht M40 style but different lining and wool color!!!...
(of course period-war time Polizei filed tunic usually had unpleated skirt pockets and partial combat linings, not shown here...)

I've abandoned all hope of this being a rare Waffen SS jacket.

Would someone who does historical impressions be interested in such a jacket ?

It is a large 42 size.

No belt ramp holes either ... like so many early BRD tunics it's been dressed as something it never was
