does anyone know what would be a suitable waffenfarbe colour for an officer "hauptmann" in the Sonderverband 288 in the DAK. This wouod be for a reenactors uniform.

You have options, you could go GJ as there was a Company sized element if im not mistaken with them, 3 STUGs, some light Inf/Jager/PzGrn color would work.. Matt

Welcome to the forum.
Depends on which Company, for example. Recon (copper) 2nd Co Jagers (green), 3rd Co Schutzen (green), 4th Co MG's (green), 5th Co Pz Jg (pink), 6th Co Flak (white) 7th Co Pioneer (black) or 8th Co signals (yellow).
