    Heavy sheepskin wachtmantel opinions please

    Hello gentlemen

I would like to show you this German overcoat that has been in my modest collection for quite a while now. It has a grey collar with build in rain hood. Inside tha coat there are two leather loops, sewn into the shoulder areas. Why was this made ? Has anybody seen on of these before and if so, is it possible to provide mi some information on the ink markings inside the coat ? As what I can make up of it , it has a French marking. I can read "Paris" and "Compagnie....S.A.... ? " Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you very much indeed,

    Decerf

I think I read in a militaria magazine that those coats are actually french army issued. They provided some pics from french soldiers wearing it on the norvegian campain (not sure-I try to remember ). German army, as a lot of other frech uniforms used this coat in cold weather for their own soldiers. A lot of pics confirm it.
              Hope it helps

                winter coat

Nice original Sentry coat as designed for Extreme cold of Russian front as previsouly stated. You often find them with Luftwaffe Blue collars also they are nice. They were made a lot of places It does look like the circle could be a French maker you see this kind of stamp in a lot of Kregsmarine Navy caps. timothy
