    Animal-fiber thread ?

    Gents, I read on another forum that late in the war the Germans were using an 'animal fiber thread' to sew their uniforms; or at least boots. It's thin and black in color.
    Does anyone have info on this thread? Was it made from animal (horse/cow) hair?

    Ive encountered wool based thread before in many items.Its not a unique phenomenom.

    There is a diference between cotton, rayon and animal based fibres in the burn test however.

      As Kiefer mentioned many animal fibers were used as threads. Horse hair was generally used for brushes or items like violin bows. But if you google "Animal fiber thread" you'll see that its use was pretty common. Jim
