Question about Summer Breast Eagle Catches

Hi:

I have seen and own many summer Heer, KM, and Luft breast eagles...and in all cases...the catch mechanism is only a "hook" which the pin is secured under. Years ago...I purchased a summer white Heer tunic and it came with a summer breast eagle that had a catch assembly/mechanism like the "American catch assembly with a locking latch. I "figured" it was a post-war eagle. Recently, I saw a dealer on e-stand post a similar summer breast eagle with a catch assembly with a catch (i.e. American type).

QUESTION: Did German firms make catch assemblies similar to the "American Type" catch & lock assemblies or are these "POST-WAR" or copies???

I'm "ASSUMING" that based upon the silence......it is a copy/post-war eagle. I felt that I had to ask the question...since no one commented on the one being sold by a dealer in e-stand....and I also had one....and I always felt it was post-war.

I occasionally see Army metal BEs offered with the locking catch. I have always considered these locking catches to have been added post war but I have no definite proof that that is the case.
