Luftwaffe collar tabs.....

I have always been curius as to what the number of birds on
the Luftwaffe collar tabs mean. I have seen anywhere from 1-4 birds
on them. Thanks in advance.

Simply, more gulls: higher rank. Flieger:one gull, up to Stabsgefreiter:4 gulls. It starts again with Unteroffizier:one gull (with tresse) up to Oberfeldwebel/ Stabsfeldwebel:4 gulls(with tresse)
