Ducth german converted jacket - what to do ?

    Hello

I'll soon be the new owner of this Dutch german converted jacket

It will be displayed on a mannequin but it lacks the waist pocket

I hesitate to find back period fabric to put it back pockets

(by the way, if someone has some fabric or a pair of pockets, let me know)

--- If you were in my shoes, would you try to put back a pair of low pockets ? or would you leave it this way ? ---

    Thanks

I would leave it like this way, I like your uniform!
Always looking for photos and documents from Rotterdam - Dordrecht - Moerdijk (1940-1945)

So you were the one who got there before me with this.

Leave it as it is, I've been after a Dutch converted tunic without bottom pockets for a while, think they look great like this.

This may be the way it was worn during the War. They modified these in several different ways. I also would leave it the way it is.

                    tunic rarities

A real wartime conversion Dutch to WH jacket ( as opposed to a post war converted Dutch to WH jacket) is RARER than a real wartime German WH tunic. Why would you try to mess with it?...

Because what you want is a real German wartime tunic....

The Dutch made one comes with a historical lesson.

Same as the other leave it anyway once you put on the field gear (belt K98, b/bag, etc) you wont be able to see the difference.

Based on the ghosts, this uniform clearly had skirt pockets at one time which is something NOT seen on (unmodified) Dutch uniforms of this type.
It was at one time clearly fully converted WITH WH skirt pockets also added... and post war removed for some reason. No doubt about that!
So adding another replacement WH pocket set would not necessarily be a mistake...It's not messing with it, it's a restoration.

I own Dutch German conversions with German fieldgray bottom pockets added as well as a tunic which never had German pockets at the bottom ...so both styles are correct for WH. The former for battle wear and the latter as "best dress" where skirt pockets were not necessary
                        (like WH waffenrocks)

Dutch enlisted field uniforms are unobtainable and therefor worth far far more money than WH - Dutch conversions.
There are no such DUtch combat tunics in existance that were post war modified for that "WH" look. Unheard of! No way
