R.I.P. "RichardP"

Just thought I'd alert fellow collectors that I received a phone call this morning notifying me that Richard Peacher, known on this forum as "RichardP", has passed away. He was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor, which quickly ended his life.

He was a great friend to me, and one of the very few I could say that I completely trusted in this hobby. Richard always had a true love for the militaria, and never really seemed to care what the value was. He just loved the stuff.

Now, I know several people on here regularly did battle with him and didn't particularly care for him or his input. But, I think that had you met and spent time with him, I firmly believe you would have had a different opinion and most likely then counted him as a friend, as did I. For those of us who were fortunate enough to truly know him, he'll be missed.

He will be missed greatly by me. We corresponded somewhat regularly, even though he was into wraps and I into visors. Good guy who was not afraid to share his knowledge, and was not shy about voicing his opinions.

I do not even know what he looked like--anyone have a picture of him?

This is a terrible loss for the collecting community and especially for those of us who counted him as a friend. He was the consumate collector, amassed the finest AVG/Flying Tigers collection in the world, and was renowned as a true and dedicated expert, always willing to help others.

As Mike said, Richard and others did battle on many occasions here. He was never afraid to speak his mind. In his last postings (and many noticed) he said a few things which were 'over the top' and which resulted in his being suspended. What no one knew (including Richard) was that he was beginning to show the outward flashes of the brain tumors (two - one in each lobe of the brain, a medical rarity) which killed him today. When he told me of his diagnosis several weeks ago, I was stunned. But when he told me of his options (extensive brain surgery which, even if successful, would have left him permanently physically and mentally impaired) it broke my heart. With typical courage, he told me he wasn't going to go down that road. "I've still got some things I want to collect......."

I was wondering when he'd come back from the suspension, but now I'm completely shocked. I mourn with the many others such a sudden passing of a fellow Panzer collector. Whether one agreed with him or not, it was clear that he was truly devoted to the WAF, so I feel sorry that he had to depart before being able to make a come back on the forum he loved. RIP

OMG! He was in our WAF So.Cal group that would get together once a month or so!
Richard was heavy into exotic wrappers like HG and Polizei branches, owning great examples
(some controversial) which I had the pleasure to personally examine!! Was not even aware of his suspension!
That's sad news! What a shocker! RIP Richard! You will be missed!!!!

I am saddened as well as shocked. I met Richard at one of the Pomona, California shows and thought of him as very kind and helpful. He was passionate about his interests and was always ready to share his opinion and answer questions.

His collecting interests were varied and he had equal passions for those interests.

I guess I would sum him up as a really nice guy.
