    Artillery Hauptmann

I must admit, it is much nicer than I initially thought. I like it alot, and hope you guys will as well.

Any comments appreciated. I am somewhat disappointed by the lack of award loops, but it is what it is. I have a nice Heer Flak that would have looked great on here.

I'm interested in your thoughts on the application of the Kuban Shield.

    Regards,
    Bob

      Bob,

      Congrats on the new tunic.

As far as the shield is concerned it looks like an original and in this particular case knowing when it was applied is tougher.

I like an overall matching patina that usually mirror each other e.g tunic and shield and consider them pretty hard to find. The tunic sleeve will usually show some sign of the shield residing there for a long time.

For an artillery Hauptman veteran of the Kuban it would seem to correlate he would rate some other accompanying awards. If it was not offered at a premium due to the shield as a whole ...Enjoy it, the display looks great

        Ribbon

Thanks Rob. There is evidence of an EK2 ribbon in the typical button hole. There are old threads still attached to the tunic. Not sure why anyone would have removed it...but who's to say.

This tunic was relatively inexpensive. Given the fact that the Kuban has value of it's own, I was surprised I actually won the auction. The shield does look like it's been there a while, but it really is impossible to tell. The eagle, tabs and boards look good. There is no evidence of them being reapplied. If they were, it is an exceptional job.

The ribbon bar loops are actually the heavier, sturdier type of thread. The kind you would normally see for a CCC.

I like the looks of it. I need to pick up an Arty Officer side cap.....

Bob, I see nothing wrong with the tunic. I had bid on it myself, so I apologize for driving your price up! I always have to remind myself that just as in every other army worldwide, not every German soldier was Rambo. The lack of award loops doesn't bother me. Looks like he easily had a three or four place ribbon bar.

Its a very nice looking tunic. You can see in the last pic how the tunic kinda folds around where the ek ribbon used to be. You got it for a very good price and not all officers wore all their stuff all the time. Hell I don't wear my jump wings hardly at all, not that im not proud but it gets to be a pain to put them on and take them off. Rather just grab and go. Matt

Nice jacket, imo the krim shield came later. It might however had one before. I can see a mark below the existing one indicating that. The backing was normally a closer fit to the tunic fabric as well. Jacques

                Agreed

I agree Jacques. I see that now that you point it out.

Thanks all for your comments. It is a nice tunic, and as you see, it displays nicely.

Why don't you add temp loops and display the Flak badge. Jacques

Nice tunic and excellent display! I would leave this one set up.

As Jacques mentioned - there are ways of displaying badges on tunics that do not harm the tunic.

                      ...

I think I'll leave this one up for a while Adam. I'll "tack" the EK2 ribbon back in the button hole, but probably not put temp loops....

I put a nicer 4 place ribbon bar on it that looks cool.

                      Thanks guys for the comments.

Nice jacket with character, looks good to me. The reapplied shield does not detract from the eye appeal at all, in my opinion.

I would have bought yours....but had already purchased this one right before you listed it.
