To answer your original question - Inf Rgt 72 was part of the 46th Inf Div. The division consisted of Sudetenland soldiers, founded in 1938. At the beginning of the Russian campaign, it attacked through Ukraine. The division retreated from the Crimea in the winter of 1941-42. Later it participated in the siege of Sevastopol and the Caucus campaign. Subsequently it fought in the Donets, at Belgorod, in the battle of Dnepropetrovsk, and retreated through Ukraine.
