picked this eagle up, it looks to me to be a army generals eagle on black, i dont think the backing is dark blue, ive had several KM officers eagles and the backing seems to be black on this one? The eagle is gold but has toned way down over the years, curious if i can get some help on this thing?

Head facing to the left is probably a Justice eagle. The gold traces are harder to account for, but often early ones were silver plated over tombac or copper wire...so it shows thru with a gold tinted hue.
The backing looks like it is velvet, so again typical of the Justice eagles.Comment

Your right. I know nothing of Justice Official insignia, I have only understood for many years, really decades now that these velvet backed head facing left eagles (most all have been early silver plated bullion on black as well) were intended for JO, but we all know that items like this got used in many applications.Originally posted by NickG View PostComment
