I personally would pass on them, but I am not an expert.

              hg tabs in this thread

the tight stitching puts me off. but ... it's been too many years since i've been in and out of collecting. what does anyone else think? i always liked the wider interval btw the stitches.

                  Any reason why?

The 'Stahlhelm tabs' seem original only concern is if the TK were later added but I can't tell.

Probably extremely rare and unique "Stahlhelm - Panzerregiment Hermann Göring" tabs ....!

For your interest here is a HG tab taken from the book "Field Uniforms of Germany's Panzer Elite" by Robert J. Edwards & Michael H. Pruett page 256. As you can se at least the front side sawing looks the same but who's to say if the TK was later added or not.

                          Sure, close, but not identical.

The piping on the just above HG tabs is artificial silk.
The piping on the discussed tabs is wool.

I agree what I was trying to show is the proper distance in the machine sewing to the tabs. Still it remains to see if the TK were originally there or post war applied and this is not an easy yes and no answer.

The question is are these "Stahlhelm" with the white piping without taking into account the TKs rare because to me this is the first time I have encounter something like this?

Any members have original HG pz tabs or "Stahlhelm" with white piping they like to post - we are all trying to learn?

                              Rene,

I do not believe there is a proper distance in machine sewing tabs whether it is holding the piping on, or the tab to a wrap. Some panzer tabs exhibit no visible sewing even when attached to a wrap. That happens to be the mounting style I like, just personal preference.

No way to tell if the TK was added pre or post. If they are real, that is all that matters.

The main thing is the tabs. There is nothing technically wrong with them. They are over-sized for panzer, but it happened. Wool is also not technically wrong, but was seen in use usually fairly early, but it was used right up until the end of the war. The tabs could also be FBB attached to Hitler's HQ. White was not a common branch color on panzer insignia early in the war. Wool piped tabs are not hard to make...that is why they require great care in choosing.

I know nothing about Stalhelm tabs, but maybe that is what they are. You are trying to learn, but have to realize there are some with huge egos that only seek to ridicule those that try to help someone, and won't show their originals (most have none) for comparison. That is why many don't post, don't show anything, or reply to threads like yours.

                              Richard

Here is a wool piped tab and a rayon piped tab.
