          It reads:

          "Lieber Feldgrauer,

hätten Sie wohl Luft mit einem
Päckchen aus der Heimat Briefe zu
          tauschen, dann schreiben Sie doch
          bitte an Gerda Held, Berlin-
          Südende, Halserstr. 16.
          20.1.43"

          Dear "Fieldgrey (soldier)",
would you like to exchange some letters for this parcel? If so, please write to...

would be nice for her relatives to have a copy of the letter- if she survived the last months of the war- and the years after.

There is no way to learn about the person she wrote to - she didnt knew him. Those kind of parcels were sent to the front, and given out just by chance. Obviously this letter never reached any soldier, otherwise I would not have found it...

So I could only learn about her, IF at all.

Agreed on the procedure with those letters being sent to the front. Furthermore, she would probably be about 87 years old right now (if it's the same Gerda), so chances are very slim.

Still, one never knows and if this were my little slip of paper and I would see a chance to reunite them after almost 70 years, I'd take a chance... after all, they were part of the war effort as well... Kurt
