M36 Artillerie Oberfeldwebel boards for comment

    Hi all,

These boards came via the estand a few years ago. The pips, I believe, are post-war, and it looks like the boards once had a set of metal cyphers or numbers pinned to them. I'm wondering if they are 'good', original boards that have had metalwork added and removed, or if they might be fakes.

As ever, any information or opinions you have to offer will be gratefully received.

        Hi Mark,
In my opinion, they are totally original shoulderstraps made for the dress waffenrock. They would be sewn in boards, and you can see the regimental numbers were picked out, as per regulations.
        Thank you,
        Curtiss

I don't know about the pips but they seem to lack the crispness that originals have but the boards seem to be 100% good to go for me. Matt

            Greetings All,

The boards appear to be nice original boards made for the waffenrock.(They should be pretty stiff) It looks like 2 numbers have been removed from each board. The pips look like they are nicely silver painted glass pips usually seen on naval boards.

They are a nice set of shoulder boards.

            Fred

I agree with Fred. I have several sets of Officer boards that have this type of pip (painted gold of course). Nice set of boards.

                Guys,

Many thanks for your feedback. I have never seen pips like that before, so it is interesting to know that they are an accepted type/style. The boards are pretty stiff, which I guess must be a feature to look for in waffenrock boards (the single artillery board I posted is barely bendable, and the panzer enlisted man's waffenrock currently on the estand has wire stiffeners in its boards).

                Thanks again,

                Mark
