    Greetings All,

Andi, these look like some nice M40 Boards. I like the material, shape, and construction but I do have reservations about some of the stitches.

Some of the stitching between the tail and the body does not look uniform. It almost looks hand sewn. It doesn't look smooth and flat at this point also. Other than this I like the boards.

True M40 boards,Wool piping with a field grey body, are hard to come by IMO. This style is the most faked because the wool piping is easier to get than the rayon piping.

      Hi Fred!
You mean this ,-,-,-,-, betwenn tongue and board? Yes, it should be /\/\/\/\.
But when the upper thread of a sewing machine is too loose, you have this type of sewing. Sometimes you can find it also on eagles attached to the uniform.
If you have a sewingmachine, you can test it.
So this is no problem for me. Some loos stiching is on the zickzackline on the back of the boards. normaly you should see only one thread one one side of the material, but with too loose threads you can see both. Upper und Underthread. I hope it it the correct term in english.

Andi, I understand you completely. This is what I was talking about.

          Andi,

I would have to disagree with you and Fred. I think the boards have a sloppy home made appearance. I look at stacks of period made boards and they are beautifully made on an assembly line, they made thousands, that's why the look so good. These do not even come close.

Of course, that is only an OPINION, and I don't expect to change anyone's mind...just food for deliberation on your own.

For me the sloppy construction is no problem. I have looked on other boards and have found similar sloppy constructions. Also handsewing on the tongue was found. I was wondering about the wool-piping. I have another pair M40 with wool-piping and the piping looks very close, but not a perfect match.
Very used boards are simplier to judge, imo, because of the wear you can see better the structure of the pipings material.
