          Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
          teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

            Almost looks like an HBT wrapper but its not... Indeed it appears to be another variation of a Nebel (werfer) protective HBT overgarment!
            Also worn sometimes by tank troops as a layered overgarment. Another (late war) final pattern came with 2 breast pockets and looked more like a British BD.

            This one (picture below) to me would be the most common and probably earlier style (with pleated pockets):
            note slots in waist (for waist belt?) ...lacking on your example...

            More examples of similar styles and period images here;

              I think even a Nebel protective shirt would have used the selvedge technique down the center seam. I think there are a number of things wrong with the first shirt pictured.

              The slots Nick mentions are for belt hooks to protrude through from the regular uniform worn underneath the protective shirt.

              There are other threads picturing these garments.

                The Nebel jacket had provisions for shoulder straps and a breast eagle. Your jacket looks like a period made protective jacket but can't say who it was produced for.

                  PS: Construction looks like a Luftwaffe garment to me.
