    Heer Feldbluse for review

I just received this Feldbluse from a seller here on the E-stand, and I have concerns that the collar may have been replaced post war. It seems to have originally been a Feldbluse for Der Spiess, but then had insignia added post war for a Gefreiter. Or was this reissued to a Gefreiter? Could I get some opinions please?
    Thank you,
    Eddie

              tunic

The collar is consistent with what a 'Der Spiess' would have. Is there old stitch traces under the collar, were the tabs would have been applied? They look like period hooks for the neck closure. I do see shadows were the tress was sewn on the sleeve. Are the loops, for the board, small for OFF., or large for NCO/EM boards? Nice solid tunic though. Dave.

This is an officer style collar with the double set of hooks. It is more lilely, in my opinion, that this is a converted EM M36 tunic that was used by an officer for field use. If there are any stitch marks on the collar they should conform to the larger sized tabs.

While senior NCO's also used this conversion it was usually done with a walking out tunic. This one appears to be a standard issue field tunic without any other modifications other than the replaced collar.

Looks like this was an issue tunic converted for wear by a senior NCO or officer. It had a new collar applied, the bottom pocket bellows were removed, possibly the tunic was shortened as well. In my opinion this work was clearly done during the war, either for a "best dress" tunic or to have a dressier look for a field tunic (in the reality of war, the distinction between walking out tunic and field tunic became very blurred). The tunic looks to have had sewn-in shoulder straps which is consistent with the other upgrades. It is entirely possible this tunic could have been turned in and reissued to a Gefreiter. More likely the rank chevron and added shoulder strap loops were done by a collector. There is no way to be certain.

                              Thanks for the reply Chris,
I'm just concerned that there seems to be no trace of Litzen on the collar, which Der Spiess probably would have had. What do you think? Would an Officer have been Der Spiess?
