    Looks more like it might be the Russian light weight zelt material to me.

      Italian tunic materials only began to be seen after the Italian capitulation in late '43. This tunic appears to be tailor made and could be any number of feldgrau fabrics available to uniform tailors. Looks to be a lighter weight type.

        Thank you - the picture was taken in 1944 (The Regiment was in Italy)
