I wanted to show you guys a super piece of history that I just picked up from a fellow forum member. (Thanks Fred!) The grouping is for a Major in the 23 Nachrichten Regiment. It came complete with the visor, tunic, and breeches. What makes the grouping amazing is that is still has the original send home box from the vet who was in a tank destroyer battalion!
The tunic is a super nice private tailored, light-weight combat tunic. There are no tailor's labels or name tags. (I wish there was) Inside one of the pockets was an original movie ticket. This is a true combat tunic. Note the fading you can see at the french cuff area. The eagle has some oxidation on it. The visor has seen better days because it was smashed inside the box for 60+ years. I plan on trying to re-shape the visor and bring it back to its original shape. It is missing one of the aluminum chin cord buttons. So if anyone out there has one, I would love to purchase it. I hope you guys enjoy the pictures.
I would appreciate any help in finding potential Majors in the 23 Nachrichten Regiment at the end of the war. There was a note from the vet stating he picked the tunic up in '44.
Thanks,
Mark
