    original attached insignia?

    Guys,

I'm still learning a lot on this matter.

Can you give advice on below insignias, attached to 44 dated M43 tunic?

Breast-eagle has typical damage - which I've seen before - due to scrubbing against Y-straps, etc... IMO not holes from previous stitching! Breast-eagle goes through the lining. Inside doesn't show any signs of previous traces. What about the close zig-zag appliance?

Note different thread used for litzen and breast-eagle. Front-view look OK, honest embedded into wool alhtough dirty.

    Happy to hear your opinion!

    Thanks in advance

    Jan B.

      Jan,

this is just my opinion but I would say professionally resewn in the fact that it looks like you can see holes from where it was previously stitched to another jacket just below the current zigzag stitch. I could be wrong but that is just my opinion. Matt

Matt, thanks for your opinion BUT, as I stated in my first post, this is IMO damage as sometimes seen due to wear of Y-straps, backpack,etc... is sort of 'friction-damage'.

These are IMO no holes from previous stitchings!

              Jan,

after taking some more time to look over the eagle I will have to retract my previous statement. Earlier when I was looking it seemed to be little holes but after looking it over more I agree just friction wear. Original applied for sure, not uncommon to see them done through the lining. Matt

does the eagles thread match anything else on the jacket ?
Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

Thanks so far guys, appreciate your views.

Does your opinions also counts for the litzen? Other type of thread used as eagle and collar-backing.

@Lenny W: As far as I can establish, 2 types of thread have been used in general construction of the tunic - as most M43 EM tunics I've encountered so far. Difficult to establish which of the 2 threads corresponds if this should be the case.

The eagles thread does looks darker, especially front-view. I doubt this is due to dirt.

Sorry, no further pictures available as it isn't in my possession (yet).

Due to different threads used- which is not really a red flag - can we focus of the way of stitching and how the insignia 'sits' on the tunic in order to have consensus?

                  Regards

I'd say the tabs are originally sewn as there are no other stitch holes n really appear to sit into the cloth itself. Matt

                          Hello Guys,

Thanks for the additional opinions and confirming my good feeling about the insignia. Been a bit to long out of the 'cloth' and therefore it helps to get some feedback overhere.

This tunic comes from the Aleks&Dimitri from Espenlaub militaria.

I'll post more pictures when arrived.

                          Regards

I think the insignia and stitching "sits" well on the tunic material.

                              IMO
The collar tabs have been there a long time, well incrusted.

There is a lot of distraction around the eagle: a stain, some damage to the insignia itself, and the tailor variation of speed on the machine when sewing, relatively sloppy job for someone who woks in a factory(not too say it cannot happen, I hear the smart a--es already)...a few issues there.

I would base my final opinion on the thread of both eagle & collar tabs as a ensemble. I like the rest of the tunic btw.
